The Handle Business Improvement District (HBID) is a benefit assessment district approved by businesses and adopted by the Sacramento City Council to help fund marketing, improvements and sales promotion efforts for Handle District businesses. The HBID includes all the restaurants (and all other businesses that sell prepared food), bars, nightclubs, personal care and retail businesses located within and around the boundaries of 18th Street, 19th Street, L Street and Capitol Avenue in Midtown Sacramento.
Board of Directors
The HBID Board of Directors oversees and manages the district. All services provided will be contracted for by the Board of Directors. Board meetings are tentatively scheduled for the third Wednesday of the month at 10:00 a.m. Board members for 2015 include:
- Jimmy Johnson, President – Zocalo Restaurant
- Sotiris Kolokotronis, Treasurer – 1801 L Street
- Aziz Bellarbi-Salah, Secretary – Aioli
- Dave Virga – Paesano’s
- Patrick Mulvaney – Mulvaney’s B&L
- Michelle Sweezey – Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates
- Aaron Zeff– Harv’s Carwash
The total HBID annual budget (for each year of its five (5) year operation) is anticipated to be approximately $200,000. The budget may vary depending upon the level of gross sales. A budget and work plan will be approved by June each year by the Board of Directors.
